Since its inception in 1986, MAED has become a leader in the fields of project management and engineering design, specialising in mineral processing and materials handling.
To date, we have provided a complete range of engineering, design, procurement, construction and allied services to the mining, petro-chemical, chemical, industrial and brewing industries.
The organisation's structure and flexible approach allows it to undertake assignments of varying complexities, from small pre-feasibility studies to major integrated projects on an international scale. Flexibility, however, does not allow compromise and our professionally qualified and accredited engineers view the adherence to, and maintenance of, the highest engineering standards as imperative.
Our design specialists also understand that all products offered must meet the required standards demanded by modern industrialists, and particular emphasis is placed on understanding clients' needs and requirements.
MAED's commitment to professional project management ensures that we apply the following principles:>
Our primary objective is to provide professional engineering management and design services to a wide range of industries. As an international company, the focus is on the development and use of hi-tech skills and products sourced locally wherever possible.
"The timeous and successful completion of any project, regardless of its size or complexity, is dependent on well-managed and resourced engineering skills being available at all times.">
To date, MAED has been extensively involved in the mining industry, having successfully completed EPCM and turnkey projects for many of the world's leading gold mining companies. Our organisation has also undertaken a variety of projects on behalf of diamond, platinum and base metal producers.
Our involvement in the gold industry has been of particular significance, affording our engineers the opportunity to gain extensive experience in the following areas:
Many of these projects have been executed in extremely remote and inhospitable locations, requiring specialist planning and logistical skills to bring the projects to a timeous conclusion within budgetary constraints.
Undertaking projects of this nature demands that our professionally qualified engineers keep abreast of the latest technological developments, and while much of our experience is based on industry-accepted and traditional methods, we also employ innovative and pioneering processes that should become universally accepted in the future.
In order to ensure that all aspects of engineering and construction meet the critical competence standards demanded by the international mining industry consulting engineers from mining houses, as well as mine engineers, frequently consult MAED. We are also able to assist with mining related operations and legal problems.
Key members of our staff have been awarded the Department of Mineral and Energy Affairs' Certificate of Competency in South Africa. They are fully conversant with the majority of the world's mining houses and are able to draw on a wealth of experience in turnkey and Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) projects executed.
With all the necessary "in-house" facilities at our disposal, together with addition resources available from our associate companies, we are able to offer the complete range of engineering disciplines including, but not limited to:
In order to ensure that conceptual and feasibility designs are technically correct, and cost efficient, our senior management and engineering staff are involved in projects right from the proposal or tender stage, as we believe that this determines their ultimate success.
For more than twenty five years MAED has been continuously engaged in engineering projects for the brewing industry, particularly in the utility areas, such as steam plant, carbon dioxide and water distribution. Our involvement in the process areas has included caustic systems, wort boiling and CIP plants.
Turnkey projects have ranged from ceramic drying plants and dust-extraction systems to state-of-the-art caustic recovery and cleaning systems.
Having acquired vast experience in the areas of steam, utilities, sulphur recovery, demineralisation/cooling water, fired heaters, blending distribution and storage, tankage, rail and road loading and flare systems, our staff are fully conversant with all local and international Codes of Practice with the petrochemical fields.
MAED is fully equipped to undertake water engineering, process design, environmental control, fire protection and other industrial projects, either on a consultancy, turnkey or managed contract basis.
